Play Screens:
NSFW Digital Paintings by Kaytee Trudeau
Nov 7 - Dec 7, 2019
Fountain Gallery, Toronto
Primarily focused on female pleasure, this project highlights the interactive and ephemeral nature of pornography, since the ubiquity of the internet was established. In all but the eponymous piece, I took inspiration from many different models to achieve each finished human in the paintings, highlighting the disposable nature of what we consume when we watch porn; a video you will watch once might never be found again, but you'll be able to achieve the same result with different bodies performing a similar act.
Play Screen itself is a screenshot of myself and my partner at the time, from a video we filmed. When viewed on a screen, the play button entices the viewer to press, to see what comes next, but since it's a painting, it's left for the fantasy to take over, which is ultimately the goal of pornography.
